The catalogue *From Loschwitz to America: Photographs by August Kotzsch (1836–1910)* is dedicated to the work of the Dresden-based photographer August Kotzsch.
Kotzsch, who lived and worked in the 19th century, is known for his striking photographs, which document the life and landscapes of his home region of Loschwitz as well as scenes from America. The catalogue presents a selection of his photographs and offers insights into the techniques and themes that characterised Kotzsch’s work. Through his lens, both the everyday culture of the 19th century and the emerging modern era come into view. The collection highlights Kotzsch’s significance as a pioneer of photography and as a chronicler of a rapidly changing world.
