Friedrich Kracht was born in Bochum on 9 July 1925. He came to Dresden to study via Dortmund and Weimar in 1951, where he graduated from the HfBK in 1953 and finally settled in Dresden as an artist in 1960 after travelling extensively (including through Europe and Africa). In Dresden, he worked with the »Kunst am Bau« artists' production cooperative, of which he was chairman of the board from 1986 to 2004.

Here, together with Karl-Heinz Adler, he developed the serial moulded stone system and implemented it in many ornamental wall designs in Dresden and elsewhere. His playgrounds and fountains are also worthy of special mention. At the same time, Friedrich Kracht always worked on free, mostly concrete art. We are dedicating our exhibition to this free artist on the occasion of his 100th birthday.

Theresa Ende will speak at the opening on Friday, 20 June 2025.
